Rio Pico and Trevelin
(8 days – 7 nights)
Program Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at Esquel Airport, where we will be waiting for you. We’ll take a scenic three hour drive to Río Pico, where camp is set up by the riverside, and our staff will be waiting for your arrival. Make yourself at home, with large tents set up for each individual. Take in the views Rio Pico has to offer before enjoying a traditional Argentinian asado dinner under the stars.
Day 2 to Day 4
Over the next three days, you will fish many of the waters accessible from the camp. Most are just minutes away from your tent, including Río Pico, Río Nilson, Río Pampas, and some of the best spring creeks in the area. Most of the fishing will be wade fishing, but for those seeking trophy trout, we have small lakes surrounding the camp that we use our rafts on—Lago 3, Lago 2, Lago 1, and many others. In Rio Pico, we will utilize dry flies, nymphs, and streamers, targeting most of our trout by sight.
Day 5
After an early breakfast, we will pack our things and leave the Río Pico camp. We’ll drive an hour and a half to fish for trophy brook trout from the rafts in one of two lakes, followed by a hot meal lakeside. Then, we’ll continue by truck for two hours to Sendero Lodge, situated on the Río Grande, where they will be waiting for our arrival with drinks and dinner.
Day 6 & 7
Enjoy breakfast at Sendero Lodge, then spend your days fishing 2 of 3 sections of the Río Grande. Midday, we’ll have lunch on the riverbank. On the Río Grande, we’ll use dry flies, nymphs, and streamers, targeting rising rainbows and aggressive streamer-eating brown trout.
Day 8
After breakfast, we’ll jump into the rafts in front of the lodge and enjoy a few hours of fishing on the Río Grande. Around 12:30, we’ll return to Sendero Lodge for lunch, then drive you to Esquel Airport, where you’ll begin your flight back home.
